Crawlspace Leveling & Support Correction Alberta

Crawlspace Leveling & Support Correction Alberta

Floors That Slope and Structures That Have Settled

When crawlspace supports — columns, posts, and pads — fail or move, the floor above settles unevenly. The result is sloping floors, sticking doors, and a structure that has drifted from its original level position. Crawlspace leveling and support correction stops the movement, restores structural alignment, and re-establishes the bearing capacity the floor system depends on.

Why Crawlspace Supports Fail in Alberta

Northern Alberta's climate is particularly hard on crawlspace support systems. Several factors work against them simultaneously:

  • Frost heave cycles lift interior columns in winter and drop them unevenly in spring — over years this creates permanent displacement
  • Original concrete pad footings may have been undersized, improperly placed, or set at insufficient depth for frost protection
  • Organic soils and muskeg under some properties continue to compress under load over decades
  • Post bases set without proper moisture protection deteriorate and lose bearing contact with the pad below
  • Water infiltration under interior pads softens bearing soil and allows footings to punch through under load
  • Older adjustable columns corrode at the base and lose the ability to hold their set height

How We Restore Level and Bearing Support

1

Baseline Assessment

We measure the floor plane above and map the crawlspace support grid below — identifying which supports have moved, which are failing, and what the floor's current deviation from level looks like.

2

Temporary Shoring

Load is transferred to temporary shoring before any failed support is removed or corrected. The structure is maintained safely throughout the process.

3

Pad Footing Inspection or Replacement

Failed, cracked, or undersized pad footings are replaced with properly sized concrete pads at appropriate depth. Where frost protection is a concern, footings are set below the active frost zone.

4

Column Replacement or Adjustment

Deteriorated wood posts are replaced with adjustable steel columns, properly set and locked at the correct bearing height. Existing adjustable columns that have shifted are re-set to the correct elevation.

5

Level Verification

Floor plane is checked across all primary measurement points. Corrections are made before temporary shoring is removed.
